In today's society we have many complex family situations and the value of the nuclear family has been considerably weakened in our society. I the Adventist Church we want to emphasize the value of children growing up in a loving home where parents are united in child rearing, and where they can experience God's presence and love through their own parents. We are also very aware of the power of example and want the parents to be aware of how they live and the impact it has on their children. The family is also the very core of the Church, because we are all part of a family. The Church is also often referred to as a family.
Children are among the most precious we have, both as parents and Church. They are open and eager to learn and take part. It is therefore imperative that we inspire and teach our children what is important and right. We want children to feel that they are part of the Church, that they should get involved and feel that this is where they belong. We also want the children to get to know Jesus as their personal friend and be encouraged to to spend time with Him through Bible study and prayer.
